A toy in the late 80's early 70's, chipmuncks puppet that lived in a newspaper?

Ok mother had a dress color bright red and there was a father and a baby. They were a sort of round tube like a roll of paper tiolet had weapons that you can put your fingers and leave yor them and they came in a small wooden house with a plastic fabric made to look like furniture made of wood. They squeaked when pressed on them. I am desperate to find these guys, they were my favorite and my parents seem to have lost mine. I can not choose one best answer, but my God, you're right! I even remember the book that accompanies them. Wow, what wonderful memories of these pictures back! Thanks a ton. And my mother and I have spoken and the toy recalls and is almost certain that the launch ugh. I have a toddler and we love Little Bear and now I know why something little bear reminds me of this toy. Thanks again, now to set up and bid on eBay, lol.
